Announcements 10/15/2017

Final Push – So much going on this time of year, it’s nice to know that our hard work is almost over. We are at the final push of marching band season. Just a couple weeks left. After that, a few football games but marching contests will be over and therefore after school practices will be reduced considerably. There are too many people to thank for all the hard work so far. Thank you to the 15+ parents who are always there to help with injuries, sick students, broken equipment, and all the crazy requests from the directors! The staff and students thank you very much! The uniforms smelled so much better Friday night after all the families took them home to wash them. Thank you to those that volunteered your washing machines and time! The students continue to work hard on performing their show. We had three performances this weekend and each one improved from the last. We know what details to focus on for Monday’s practice so that we can be set up for a great performance at UIL this Tuesday. We hope that we will have many parents at the performance this Tuesday evening at 7:30pm. Multiple principals have signed up to come watch our students perform. Let’s all prepare for a really great performance this Tuesday!

Health – Many students have been getting sick with a stomach virus and strep throat. The biggest way to help prevent this is to wash out our water bottles / jugs and never share with other students. Too many students share water this way and it is spreading germs. Also, wash your hands, eat healthy, drink water, and get plenty of rest.

Band fees – I sent out an updated band fees statement last week. It is critical that students pay these fees. If you see anything wrong or don’t understand the statement, please email me and let me know. I encourage students to bring their payments in before school and hand it to a director. Band fees must be paid before students are allowed to go on the spring trip.

Upcoming itineraries – UIL is on Oct. 17th and then the USBands SW Championship at AT&T stadium on Oct. 21st. The final performance of “All In A Dream” is at Coppell on Oct. 29th. I will be sending itineraries as soon as I can for all events. Please read them for details regarding call times, pick up times, and meal arrangements. For special diet concerns, please log in to Charms and “special diet?” in the update personal info section.
