Lamar High School Viking Band

GHIRARDELLI CHOCOLATE SALE -- We would like to close out the sale by Wednesday, February 15th. Please get all of your chocolate sold by that date and turn in the funds collected. Everyone who elected to donate in lieu of fundraising should turn in their $36 donation by the same deadline.

SOLO & ENSEMBLE PROCESS -- We have 10 school days left to UIL Solo & Ensemble. Music should be about 95% prepared and practice time with accompanists should be scheduled to start next week. Ensembles should be meeting daily at this point to polish off all those rough edges in the music.

SPRING TRIP MEETING -- All participants in this year's Winter Park trip are expected to attend a meeting, with a parent, at 7:30 PM on Monday, February 13th, in the Lamar Auditorium. The music festival has some required paperwork that must be signed by both the student and a parent that is now due. We will also present a more detailed itinerary along with some important information about the trip. PLEASE NOTE: The symphonic/concert band will have its first trip rehearsal on Thursday, February 16th, from 4:30 to 6 PM.

Volunteers -- We have invited all of the Lamar Cluster 5th graders to come to Lamar on Wednesday, February 15th to take part in our annual Try The Instruments Night. If you volunteered for this event, please plan to work from 5 PM to 8 PM. If a conflict has arisen, please find someone to replace you and let Mr. Pease know ASAP.

AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSALS -- each of our concert bands will be scheduling after school rehearsals from now through the UIL Concert contest in April. These rehearsals are a required co-curricular requirement for the band classes. They will vary in length, but normally will not last more than 90 minutes. Check the band calendar regularly to stay current with the schedule.
