Announcements 2/5/2017

Winterguard – Congrats Lamar Winterguard BLUE on placing 4th at the Flowermound NTCA contest this past Saturday. Keep up the hard work!

Game Night – On Feb. 7th we will host our annual game night. This is a fun social event at Lamar to introduce the 8th graders from Nichols and Shack to our high school band students. We will need students / families to bring up game systems and TV’s to use for our activities. We will also request so snacks and drinks. We could use a couple parents as chaperones as well. There will be 7 band directors, but a few extra eyes would be nice.

Sectionals – No sectionals this week due to the directors being at the TMEA convention.

TMEA – This Wed-Fri, the band staff will be attending the annual Texas Music Educators Association convention in San Antonio. During this time, we will have substitute teachers in the band room during school hours. Our expectation is that the students will practice their instruments and study for other classes equally during their band class periods. Behavior will be nothing less than exemplary.

Eligibility – The 4th six weeks is rapidly coming to a close. This report will determine eligibility for many events this spring. Students going on the trip must pass this six weeks. UIL will be affected by this grade report as well. The student leadership team is offering tutoring. Please ask for help! Our goal is for the entire Pride of Lamar to be passing this six weeks. Let’s work together to achieve academic and musical success!

Solo & Ensemble – UIL solo & ensemble forms have been submitted. Students owe $12.50 per event. This needs to be taken care of before Feb. 25th. The piano accompanist fees are due the day of the event. Mrs. Carroll, our accompanist charges $45 for rehearsals and performance combined. She is a professional pianist and this is a standard fee for accompanying instrumental solos.

Spring Trip – If you are a parent that would like to chaperone the spring trip, please email me asap.
