Mark Pease, Director of Bands - Mr. Pease is the third Head Band Director in the history of our high school succeeding Steven Musser (1980-2006) and Bob Copeland (1970-1980). Most recently Mr. Pease was director of bands for the Red Oak ISD. He is a 1973 Lamar graduate and was a member of the very first Viking Band, playing trumpet in the fall of 1970. He has a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Texas Tech University and a Master of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas. Since 1977, Mr. Pease has been directing bands in Brenham, Grand Prairie, Chapel Hill, West Rusk, Raymondville, Brownsville, Mansfield, and Red Oak. He has an extensive background in marching show design and in integrating music and technology. His service to music education includes several years as a region band organizer, solo and ensemble contest organizer, and adjudicator. His bands have won numerous Sweepstakes awards in UIL competition.
Mr. Pease has been married to Laura (also a Lamar Band alumni) for 29 years. They have a son Bryan, who is a graduate from UT-Dallas with a degree in software engineering and computer science and is now a programmer in Dallas. Mr. Pease and his wife spend some of their leisure time at a family cabin in the mountains of New Mexico, and enjoy exploring the history and culture of the southwest. His other hobbies include playing trumpet, computers & technology, and woodworking. |

Alan Lang, Associate Director of Bands - Mr. Lang is currently teaching his sixth year at Lamar. He became a Lamar fine arts staff member in the fall of 2005 after teaching in Lindsay, Oklahoma for four years. Mr. Lang is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma where he was a trumpeter in the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band for five years as well as a member of the jazz ensemble. During his college years he was a member of the 1998 Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps where he studied with professional trumpeter Peter Bond of the NYC Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. From 2003 to 2006 Mr. Lang worked with the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps as a visual and brass technician working with high brass, marching, choreography and colorguard. Alan has been the visual caption head at Revolution Drum & Bugle corps for the past two seasons. At Lamar his experience and talents have him involved with the marching band and winter drumline as a visual/marching instructor as well as a designer. Mr. Lang is currently the director of the jazz program, symphonic band and the International Baccalaureate music instructor. Carrie Chapman, Associate Director of Bands - Ms. Chapman is beginning her first year as an Associate Band Director at Lamar, after having taught beginner band for a year in the Sam Houston cluster. This is Ms. Chapman’s second year of teaching since graduating from Texas Christian University in 2009. While at TCU, Ms. Chapman was a clarinetist in the TCU Wind Symphony under Bobby Francis, and a member of the Horned Frog Marching Band and Tau Beta Sigma. Ms. Chapman directs the Concert Band as well as teaches Advanced Placement Music Theory at Lamar. She also spends her mornings at Speer Elementary teaching beginner band. Her hobbies consist of traveling, running along the Trinity River, and TCU football. Ms. Chapman currently resides in downtown Fort Worth with her great dane, Jackson.

Mr. Bibb, Percussion Director has been involved with music performance and education for over ten years. His experience includes involvement with award winning percussion ensembles, drumlines, and wind ensembles. Mr. Bibb is a graduate of Texas Christian University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. While attending TCU, he performed with award winning percussion ensembles and drumlines. In 2006, Mr. Bibb was a member of the PAS Marching Percussion Champion TCU Drumline, and in 2008 performed with the TCU Percussion Ensemble at the PAS Showcase Concert. Mr. Bibb also has several years of experience with drum and bugle corps as a member and instructor. He was a member of Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps from 2005-2007 and instructor at Spokane Thunder Drum and Bugle Corps in 2010 and Forte Drum and Bugle Corps in 2011. Mr. Bibb has been fortunate to have studied percussion with many leading educators such as Dr. Brian West, Dr. Richard Gipson, Joey Carter, Paul Rennick, Dave Hall, Stuart Spoon, and Tyler Orbison.
Mr. Bibb is currently in his first year as the Percussion Director for the Lamar High School Band. He is also a 2006 Lamar High School graduate, and he feels very fortunate to receive the opportunity to work with the students of his alma mater. Mr. Bibb currently resides in Fort Worth with his loving wife Mica.

Gizzel Cruz is currently a fourth year student at Texas Woman's University. This is her seventh year of colorguard performing with world class and independent groups including The Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps, Black Gold Winterguard, White Gold Winterguard and Denton Fusion Winterguard. In addition to this her colorguard career consists of working with Independent A and High School colorguards such as Denton Fusion, Ryan High School, Northwest High School and Argyle High School. She is currently and instructor at the Argyle High School and Lamar High School.
