Due to Extreme Heat Conditions we are making the following changes to our Summer Band Camp Schedule. We realize this may present some difficulties for some with transportation and /or schedule conflicts. We are however going to do this for the safety of our students.

Battery, Guard, and Winds -- 1 to 4:30 PM -- Indoor music rehearsal at Shackelford JH
Dinner Break -- at Lamar HS, student may walk to LHS or arrange for personal transport
5:30 to 9 PM -- Marching Rehearsal at Lamar, indoors until heat index drops to safe levels

OTHER INFORMATION
- Lamar Freshman Camp -- Viking Vision -- Freshmen are allowed to do this. We would however like for them to attend morning rehearsals.
- Lamar Registration -- On the scheduled registration days students will be allowed to leave rehearsal long enough to take care of registration.
- Summer School Dual Credit -- students taking summer dual credit will be allowed to miss the morning rehearsals.
Please understand that due to current weather, other changes may be necessary.
SUMMER BAND CAMP 2011

Why: We need to learn as much of our 2011 program as possible before everyone gets bogged down with homework and a busy school schedule.
Details:
MANDATORY REGISTRATION MEETING.
We need to see all students and a parent or guardian on Monday, August 1st.
Registration Schedule:
6:00 PM - Seniors
6:30 PM - Juniors
7:00 PM - Sophomores
7:30 PM - Freshmen
At registration we will collect medical forms, travel forms, permission slips, and fees (click here to view/print the forms.) We will also be updating our contact information for both student and parent so be sure to have all of your phone and email information available at that meeting. Parents, we will need your signature on several of these forms and please bring identification for the Notary. You will also need to bring your insurance information for the medical release form.

BAND FEES:
Wind Activity Fee: $200 (payment plans available; discount for early payment available) -- Paid by all wind players, guard and percussion fees are separate.
Instrument Rental Fee: $150 -- Paid by all students who play a school owned wind instrument.
Percussion Instrument Rental Fee: $100 -- Paid by all students who use school owned percussion instrument.
Percussion Fall Fee: $200 (payment plans available; discount for early payment available) -- Paid by all percussion students
Percussion Spring Fee: $200 (payment plans available; discount for early payment available) -- Paid by all percussion students
Color Guard Fall Fee: $200 (payment plans available; discount for early payment available) -- Paid by all guard students. Uniforms are calculated separately for each season.

Summer Uniform Cost: $40 -- Paid by all who need a new summer uniform

CAMP INFORMATION:
* This year's camp will be run like most camps held at area colleges. Once you are on site you will stay until the day is over; meals will be provided. You will move from activity to activity throughout the day with the goal at the end of the camp being the ability to perform the first half of our competitive show. You will also have spent a good bit of time on marching skills, in learning stand tunes for the games and pep rallies, and in social activities for you to get to know your new band family.
* Everyone will be expected to eat meals on the Lamar Campus during scheduled break times. You are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Section Leaders may organize a meal plan that would require a small monetary contribution towards a delivery food like pizza. Everyone will be eating together at Lamar, please plan accordingly.
* Wear light colored loose fitting clothing made of a breathable fabric. Make sure to wear athletic foot wear like tennis shoes with socks. Don't forget that hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are also very important. Everyone should also have their own large refillable water bottled with their name on it.
* Bring your marching instrument. Please make sure everything is in working order and that you have all the necessary reeds and supplies. Concert horns may be used at some point during the camp -- we will let you know which day and time at the first practice.

Please note; the bands first performance is on Tuesday afternoon, August 9th. We will be performing at a pep rally for the start of the Lamar Freshman Camp. A detailed itinerary for this performance will be available in August.
